VAST Studio Bhutan is a non-profit organization based in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. “VAST” stands for “Voluntary Artists Studio Thimphu”. The organization was established in 1998 by a group of artists with the aim of promoting and preserving Bhutanese art and culture.

VAST Studio Bhutan has various programs and initiatives aimed at promoting Bhutanese art and culture. They organize art exhibitions, workshops, and cultural events to raise awareness of Bhutanese art and to encourage the younger generation to take an interest in traditional Bhutanese arts.

One of their most significant initiatives is the VAST Bhutan Art Residency Program. The program provides artists from Bhutan and around the world with a space to live and work in Bhutan and to collaborate with local artists. The residency program has helped to expose Bhutanese artists to different techniques and ideas, and it has also helped to promote Bhutanese art to a wider audience.

VAST Studio Bhutan has also been involved in the restoration and preservation of Bhutanese architecture and traditional arts such as thangka painting, wood carving, and sculpture. They have collaborated with other organizations to restore and preserve historic buildings and to train young artists in traditional techniques.

Overall, VAST Studio Bhutan has made significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of Bhutanese art and culture. Their initiatives have helped to inspire a new generation of Bhutanese artists and to ensure that Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.
