Kurjey Lhakhang

Kurjey Lhakhang is a Buddhist temple located in the Bumthang Valley of central Bhutan. The temple is named after the body print (kurjey) of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), a revered Buddhist master who is believed to have introduced Buddhism to Bhutan in the 8th century.

The Kurjey Lhakhang complex consists of three temples, with the oldest dating back to the 1650s. The main temple is a three-story building with a golden roof, and it houses several statues of Guru Rinpoche and other important Buddhist figures. The second temple is a small meditation center, while the third temple contains a large prayer wheel and a statue of Guru Rinpoche.

The Kurjey Lhakhang is an important pilgrimage site for Bhutanese Buddhists, and it is also visited by tourists who come to learn about Bhutan’s rich culture and spiritual heritage. The temple is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, and visitors can take a leisurely walk through the nearby forest to explore the area.
